Starting today, some Class Members of the First Nations Child and Family Services and Jordan’s Principle Settlement can submit a Claim for compensation.

The Special Chiefs Assembly vote on long-term reform separate from the First Nations Child and Family Services and Jordan’s Principle Settlement and will have no impact it’s compensation.
On October 24, 2023, the Federal Court approved the Settlement Agreement for the First Nations Child and Family Services and Jordan’s Principle Class Action.
The Federal Court approved the first Claims Process for the First Nations Child and Family Services and Jordan’s Principle Settlement (“the Settlement”), marking a significant milestone towards providing compensation to individuals included in the historic $23.34 billion Settlement Agreement.
The Federal Court approval hearing for the first Claims Process for the Removed Child and Removed Child Family Classes will take place on June 19, 2024, at 9:30 am EDT.You can watch the proceedings, which will be livestreamed by the Federal Court of Canada on Zoom. Registration is required.
The Administrator is gathering feedback from Class Members through a national survey to understand what is known about the Settlement and the resources and supports available to them, and to learn more about how they would like to receive information.
