Understanding how compensation works can help you prepare. This page outlines payment amounts, processing timelines and key steps in the process. Whether you’re awaiting payment or planning ahead, having the right information can help you make informed decisions.
Timelines
Compensation timelines vary by Class and individual circumstances.
Age of Majority
Eligible Claimants will receive compensation only after reaching the Age of Majority. Claims cannot be accepted from individuals younger than two years from the Age of Majority, and payments cannot be issued before reaching this milestone.
Eligible Claimants will receive compensation as their Claims are processed. This means payments could be sent within six months of submitting a Claim. However, processing timelines may take longer depending on individual circumstances.

Claims for this Class will be processed after the Ultimate Claims Deadline, which is three years from when the Claims Period opened (or if the Claimant was under the Age of Majority on March 10, 2025, three years from when the Claimant reached Age of Majority) plus an additional year for extension requests.
For example, for those who are the Age of Majority on March 10, 2025, the Ultimate Claims Deadline is March 10, 2029. However, if you were under the Age of Majority on March 10, 2025, your Ultimate Claims Deadline is four years from the date you reach the Age of Majority.
This timeline ensures that any competing Claims, such as when more than two Caregiving Parents or Caregiving Grandparents submit a Claim for the same Removed Child, can be resolved.

Amounts
Compensation amounts vary by Class and circumstances:
- If eligible, Claimants may receive up to $40,000 per eligible Removed Child. In some cases, additional compensation may apply.
- Caregiving Parents and Caregiving Grandparents who cared for more than one Removed Child may be eligible for multiple Base Compensation payments.
- If you are eligible under more than one Class, your compensation amounts will not be combined. You will receive the higher single amount for which you are eligible.
