In 2019, the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal (CHRT) ordered Canada to pay compensation to Eligible Removed Children and to the Caregiving Parents and Caregiving Grandparents of Eligible Removed Children who were placed off reserve, with non-family members and were in care any time between January 1, 2006, and March 31, 2022. This Settlement covers the CHRT order as well as two class action lawsuits that asked for compensation dating back to January 1, 1991. For this reason, Class Members whose Claims fall within the CHRT Period have different requirements for representatives and compensation.
