Important notice: Mail service delays in communities affected by wildfires
July 16, 2025
Updated September 29, 2025
We are closely monitoring the ongoing wildfire situation across Canada and recognize the significant impact it’s having on many First Nations communities. In some communities, wildfires have resulted in emergency measures, such as evacuation orders and impacts to public services, including mail delivery through Canada Post.
Mailing delays to affected communities
We have temporarily stopped sending mail to areas experiencing evacuations or service disruptions to avoid mail being lost. This includes blank Claim Forms as well as letters related to Claim submissions. As a result, if you live in a community that is impacted by wildfires, there may be a delay in receiving the paper Claim Form you requested or information about your Claim.
What you can do
You do not need to take any action if:
- You were evacuated and are returning to your home community
- You live in a community that is not affected by a wildfire
You should contact the Administrator if:
- Your address, phone number or email has changed
- You have relocated due to an evacuation or other reason
To update the Administrator, call toll-free 1-833-852-0755.
We will resume mailing Claim Forms and information related to Claims to affected communities when wildfire evacuation orders are lifted, and there are no more Canada Post service delivery interruptions in the community.
Please continue to check this page or our social media channels for updates.
We remain committed to supporting all Claimants and communities during this time and appreciate your patience as we make necessary adjustments to respond to wildfire conditions.
