A terminal condition is a disease or condition that cannot be cured or adequately treated and is likely to result in death in the near future (six to 12 months or less) with no reasonable expectation of recovery. These may include certain types of cancer, irreversible heart, liver, or kidney failure where transplantation is not an option, cystic fibrosis, Duchenne muscular dystrophy, or other life-limiting conditions.
